Back to SCHOOL means Back to ROUTINE...

BACK TO SCHOOL means BACK TO ROUTINE!

It’s that exciting time of year for teachers and parents again as we prepare for another year of learning and growth for our children. As parents, WE can play a crucial role in helping our children transition back into the learning mindset before school starts. How you ask?By establishing a routine over the next week, such as waking up early, going to bed on time, and getting back into a rhythm, you can create a smoother start to the school year. Consistency and structure can ease the transition for your child, making it easier for them to adapt to the school routine once it begins. Remember, little stepsnow can lead to a successful and positive

start to the first week of school, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the academic year.

TIP #1

Using a calendar as a visual tool can be a helpful strategy for children to ease their anxiety and prepare for the back-to-school routine. By having a tangible representation of the days left until school starts, children can gain a sense of control and minimize their anticipation of the upcoming change in their setting and schedule.

This practice taps into executive function skills, which adults rely on daily to stay organized and on track with their busy schedules. By teaching children to actively use a calendar of their own, they can develop essential skills such as time management and organization, which will benefit them throughout their lives.

Starting early with this approach not only helps children feel more prepared for the school year but also fosters a sense of readiness and confidence in facing new challenges. Empowering them to take charge of their responsibilities through using a calendar can lead to a smoother and more successful transition back to school.
